Products and services

With the LIOS DE.TECT range of optical Linear Heat Detection (LHD) systems NKT Photonics offers fast and accurate fire detection in rail and road tunnels, production facilities, conveyor belts, opera houses, hazardous environments, floating roof tanks and many other large installations.

With fire detection projects worldwide the NKT Photonics DE.TECT solution has become a trusted partner with system integrators, installers of fire alarm systems and general contractors. Especially the almost maintenance-free device and long lifetimes are key features for our customers.

Since the introduction in 1997 the DE.TECT system has revolutionized the safety standard in e.g. underground transport facilities as it enabled complete and precise monitoring of an entire tunnel length up to 14km with one system. In addition to the mandatory connection to the fire panel the DE.TECT systems are equipped with various interfaces to visualize, transfer and safe relevant data.

LIOS Fibre Optic Linear Heat Detector - Series DE.TECT

LIOS DE.TECT is a robust Linear Heat Detection (LHD) system based on optical fibres. With a range of up to 14 km and a sampling interval down to 25 cm, the system is ideal for fire detection in various large facilities like rail and road tunnels, conveyor belts, opera houses, warehouses and industrial facilities.
Even in hazardous, explosive environments like large gas and floating roof tanks for flammable liquids the LIOS DE.TECT system works maintenance free.

For all applications NKT Photonics provides the appropriate sensor cable; we will help you pinpoint the exact cable design and installation appropriate for your project.
The coating of the optical fibre can be tailored to optimally suit the required resistance to temperature conditions and mechanical impacts in your specific project.
Our support teams around the world will be able to provide decent support for the commissioning on site or through modern technology from remote places.

Charon Visualization and Monitoring Software

Charon is the visualizaton software that binds all sensing data together in one platform. Compatible with all LIOS sensing products and a range of third party sensors, Charon can combine data from multiple sources and store them in a common SQL database:
From the database, the sensing data can be presented both visually in one big overview where you can quickly get an overview on the entire installation being monitored, or later documentation and remote service information.

News & Innovations

New Business Segment Manager DE.TECT

Since June 2019 a new Business Segment Manager took over the responsibility for the DE.TECT Linear Heat Detectors.

Mr. Felix Heck who has a background as Electrical Engineer and more than 15 years of sales experience in special fire detection in various companies will continue to grow the segment and provide the best support to customers globally with his team.

Felix Heck and his colleague Muneeb Elsaka will be present during the Intersec in Dubai in January 2020. Please be invited to the NKT Photonics booth in the German Pavillion.to talk about opportunities with Linear Heat Detectors.
